Labor and Love

It was a busy weekend.  Saturday morning I was struck with the idea to make another garage shelf.  My mother-in-law helped out with funds and off to the hardware store I went.  Their lumber yard keeps some stuff out in

I Made an Ear!

Finally, I think I’ve hit on what it takes to make ears.  No, it’s not a sharp scalpel, a trip to the morgue, and some reanimation serum.  Last night I made two loaves of sourdough and decided to form them

Litte Miss-chief

Picture 999 When I see this smile, I know she is doing something verboten and will likely make a run for it.  I should start doing this at work:  when someone asks me to do something I don’t like, I’ll

As promised, pictures of the pain rustique.   Picture 1000 My verdict:  meh.  Though it smelled great baking, I don’t think it developed enough flavor or enough structure.  It might benefit from an overnight cold ferment, or perhaps another rise.

Staying Clean?

Okay, look.  If you have a toddler, your child will never stay clean.  If it’s your first child, you are working under the assumption that people wear clothes, wash their hands, and generally don’t eat sand.  Toddlers do what interests
