Darkness in a Bottle

Ooh, I like the title of this post, it sounds like a noir film.  But really it’s all about very, very dark stout all bottled up.  As I bottled this I had a taste and I think this is going to be a great easy-drinking stout.  “What?!” you screech, spilling coffee all over your keyboard, “an easy stout?”  Steady on and hear me out.  Low alcohol, low bitterness, gentle sweetness, and smooth chocolate and coffee roastiness, this is like a slice of chocolate cake for dessert.  The less gluttonous among us could have one slice without feeling the need for five more.  Easy but not something to have in excess.  Since this beer was bottled on the 7th and it takes two weeks to carbonate it’ll be ready for the first sip on the 21st, the solstice.  Also the darkest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.  Also this is a dark beer.  Also…oh come on, follow the breadcrumbs people!  I give you the Solstice Stout!

P.S. Thanks to my wife and Child Harbat for writing and decorating the label.

P.P.S.  Anti-thanks to me, the photographer, for trying to hold the camera steady and the bottle upright and still getting the picture blurry.
